Hitchin BID Business AwardsCelebrating outstanding achievements by Hitchin Businesses.
We know that the High Street has been under pressure for years and that was before Covid hit! Hitchin’s unique mix of commerce and culture has seen it fare better than most towns, but the pandemic set unprecedented challenges for the Town that was a finalist in the Great British High Street Awards 2019.
Hitchin BID responded quickly to the rapidly emerging events last February. Town Centre Manager Tom Hardy coordinated efforts to ensure hand sanitiser stations were provided, signage was clear and comprehensive and support and information for businesses and members of the public was readily available.
Hitchin BID supports businesses, but it is the businesses themselves that had to cope with the problems created by the virus. The response was inspiring. The Town met the challenges head on, with determination, creativity, good humour and hard work.
These awards are designed to raise the profile of the Town’s businesses by engaging the Hitchin public in a process of recognising outstanding achievements in the toughest of times. The awards will highlight the many success stories and remind people how fortunate Hitchin is to have such a resilient and vibrant business community.
As life slowly returns to normal, these awards are part of a coordinated strategy of initiatives designed to ensure the hard work of the last 12 months is not wasted and Hitchin bounces back; better than ever.
Voting will begin on the 1st of June 2021 and be open until the end of July.
The awards ceremony will be part of the Christmas Lights Switch On in November.
