JAZZ UP ! presents KITTY LA ROAR

Location:
Club 85, Whinbush Road
Starts:
Doors 7.45pm
Ends:
"When Kitty sings, music stops to listen." Stylish London singer Kitty LaRoar debuts her new quartet at JazzUp, singing, scatting and freestyling at the drums. The band will be showcasing original compositions from the new album Valentine's Eve, as well as original lyrics to the music of Monk, Ellington, Strayhorn and Sonny Rollins. Originally inspired by Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan, Kitty LaRoar's unique talents are not just as silky voiced songstress, scat-singer and drummer. She has a spellbinding ability to freestyle lyrics to melody on the spot, telling stories that are not only relevant to the song she is singing, but often weaving in references to life, love, nature, politics, current events, and even to people in the audience. The quartet performs highly original songs by Kitty and her pianist Nick Shankland and although the genre is clearly jazz, this unpredictable and eclectic music entrances and engages the audience. Everyone’s talking about Kitty at the moment; this JazzUp will be very busy so be sure to get your tickets early. Kitty LaRoar - Vocals & Drums; Nick Shankland - Piano; Ed Jones - Tenor Sax; Davide Mantovani - Acoustic Bass Advance Tickets £8 available from ... Farleys, Jolly Brown, Gatefold Record Lounge, Bar 85 Hitchin David's Music Letchworth, Unikorn Stevenage £10 on the door. 16+ with photo ID - younger patrons can be signed in at the door by a responsible adult. Downstairs bar open until 1am.
